Beefcake - ¥003 + ¥024 + 2X = ¥727
hymen records received beefcake's tape 's.h.c.' in 1997. it was sent as a demo and our reaction was: 'this
is the one'. their new and unconventional usage of samples and beats, their mixture between drum and
bass, breakbeats and soundtrack-ish atmospheres caused euphoric reactions - first at the hymen records'
office, then with open-minded listeners. Beefcake signed to hymen records at the label's very beginning
(back in 1997) and earned critical praise for their first vinyl appearance, ¥003. Which was an extract from
the 's.h.c.' tape. so this 12" was a 'stand-alone' product and this is in contrast to the follow-up 'in medias
res'. 'in medias res' can be seen as an 'add-on' to beefcake's first cd 'polycontrale contra punkte' (released
in1998). Now, for the first time on CD, you can enjoy the deleted ¥003 and ¥024 - plus two new unreleased
beefcake tracks! not a simple 'compilation', more an overview of beefcake's development from 1997 to
2002.
